Texas Tough Throwdown!

Wouldn't it be fun to challenge "Steve" and his Marketing department team at your workplace to a little friendly competition to let him know that although he talks about his running 10 times more than everyone else in the company, he's not the only runner in town? Or, maybe you run in a FIT group and you think you can assemble a green team that can beat a blue team, or maybe you’d like to compete with another nearby FIT organization's green team! Maybe you could initiate a little intra-company competition amongst your work's operations in Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio?! Wouldn't it be great to see all the running & endurance specialty stores do battle?! It could be the girls vs the guys, or Longhorns vs Aggies vs Sooners, or Mobil vs Exxon vs BP vs Shell, or even states against other states. The opportunities are endless, but we know that you have someone in mind (whether a family member, friend, or colleague) that you wouldn't mind thrashing!

To encourage this, we'll give you some additional incentive to help get the ball rolling. First, every competition that gets set up will be added to the race results as a separate division, so the outcome will be plain to see. Also, the victors will walk away with fatter wallets (or purses) because prizes will be awarded to the winning teams! (Exact prizes will be communicated after sponsorships are finalized.) So, go ahead and challenge other teams (feel free to use the example e-mail below) and let deserving people know that they're being called out!

To participate in the Texas Tough Throwdown:

• Denote during registration that you would like to challenge others (or accept a challenge in which you will need to provide the challenging team’s number in the input box provided). You can challenge others to a competition in fundraising, too!

• Custom make your competition however you like it (FREE for every team) until October 31, 2007. From November 1 to January 15, 2008, the cost of a team to join the fray will be an additional $50 on top of their race registration fee.

• Compete and have fun!

It's time to lay down the gauntlet, take off the gloves, and ask someone to hold your watch as you take step outside. Get ready to rumble. This is a Texas-style throwdown - no excuses offered, and none accepted. The glory is forever... until the next year!

Register a Texas Tough Throwdown, and let the smack talking begin!!!

Would you like to be Texas Tough? Give it your best shot by racing my team at the Texas Independence Relay on March 1 - 2, 2008. Read more about the race here - www.TexasIndependenceRelay.com. Personally, I don't think you have it in you, but nevertheless, I thought I'd check.

Seriously, though (the above is a form letter from The Texas Independence Relay, by the way), it really would be a lot of fun to run this race and compete with each other! Excluding the losing team’s pride, this is at no cost to either team until November 1, 2007. You can read more about this competition within the overall competition at www.TexasIndependenceRelay.com/node/23.

Let me know if you’re interested in doing this.

Very Truly Looking Forward to Kickin' Your Butt!
